Julie Petersen, an Avon High School senior, places glass tiles in a mosaic panel that will honor late teacher Caitlin Kacher, with guest artist George Woideck looking on. The project, delayed by the COVID-19 shutdown, is expected to be unveiled in the spring. (John Matuszak, special to cleveland.com)
AVON, Ohio -- A great teacher is like a ray of light filtering into the lives of students, offering a rainbow of opportunities for learning and growth.
A glass mosaic project at Avon High School will symbolize the full spectrum of caring that teacher Caitlin Kacher brought to everyone she encountered.
“She was a very cultured person,” offered student Julie Petersen, one of the participants in the mosaic creation. Kacher, a Spanish teacher, died from cancer in 2019 at 32.
“She loved the subject she taught, and she loved her students,” Julie said. “She touched so many students.”

Uncover a wealth of spiritual archives below sourced in 2022. Revealing the depth and breadth of this early chapter in juliesdiary's artistic journey. Art is most significantly impacted by books, music, and personal trivia.

I graduated high school with my best friend and neighbor! She suffered a severe seizure the morning of our graduation ceremony due to epilepsy. Luckily, she was rushed to UH and recovered miraculously. We walked the stage together hand in hand. Shelby is the reason I pursued art, she's the reason I dedicated so much time to college applications. She's the reason I want to achieve higher education. I want to help people like Shelby.

Some personal life
I am an artist because of who I am. Below are some of the happenings and cultural underpinnings of 2022 that influenced my artwork.

Personal life can impact art too
My work took a more serious turn in 2022. I developed a severe eating disorder that inhibited my ability to pursue all aspects of art and everything I could do. Many don't know this but I purely survived off of kale and chocolate protein shakes.
I have always loved running and found this to be both a drawback and an advantage to my artwork. Running allowed me to clear my head and begin a new project or muster up the strength to finish an old project or assignment. But running also took a lot of energy out of me. I took an executive position in CWRU's running club hoping it would help me out of my eating disorder.

My family is my number one supporter of art. They inspire me in so many ways and I wouldn't be in art school without them! Never miss the chance to hug your loved ones!
